Chapter 31

"Hey, Liv, can you hand me a water bottle?" Seraphina asked, trying to move without waking Athos.

Ever since that one moment where he had slept with his head in her lap, he hasn't stopped doing it. He would start off by curling up in the corner, refusing to let anyone touch him, but would then move slowly towards her in his sleep. Whenever he woke up, he acted as if nothing happened and tried to shut her out. It was taking its toll on her, but she wasn't giving up. She was relentless, no matter how annoyed Athos seemed, I knew he was thankful.

Someone was finally refusing to leave him.

"Athos, you need to drink some water," she said softly, shaking him.

His eyes fluttered open and focused on the water bottle, he groaned against her thigh.

"I'm not thirsty," he mumbled.

She sighed, "I don't have the energy to argue, please...just drink."

To my surprise, he obeyed her and took a long sip of the water before looking at her. He grabbed a paper towel, wiped the top and held it towards her.

"Stop putting all of your concern with me, you need to stay hydrated too," he said firmly, leaving no room for arguments.

My sister chuckled and accepted the water bottle, causing Athos to grin. I eventually turned my attention away from them and looked down at my man. Vincent was out cold with his head in my lap as well, snoring softly. I ran my fingers through his hair, loving how soft it was. When I went to stop, he grabbed my hand and placed it on his head.

"Really?" I laughed.

He smiled, "It feels nice."

"How far are we?"

"About four more hours, dad are we stopping at a motel?" He questioned, refusing to sit up now.

Rocco nodded from the driver's seat, "Yeah, we're twenty minutes away from one."

"Alright. I'll carry you in," Vincent stated, looking up at me.

I rolled my eyes, "I can walk."

"You're sleepy, I can tell."

"Am not."

"Are so."

"Am not."

"I'm carrying you."

I raised an eyebrow at him, but gave in, knowing I couldn't win. Plus, he has a point, I'm exhausted. Ten minutes in, I actually fell asleep, barely aware of Vincent moving so I could lay on him. I was half asleep when he picked me up and carried me out of the car, talking about wanting to hold me. I could hear my sister saying soothing words to Athos as threw up.

"I told you, don't drink the water too fast," my sister sighed.

"I was thirsty," he argued.

"You are a man child."

"So I have been told...before I turned into a monster."

"Athos, really? I'm sorry for that," Rocco groaned.

Vincent tightened his hold on me as he stepped into a cool area, shocking my body. I shivered against him, causing him to hold me even closer.

"Hi, I need a room for six," Rocco suddenly stated.

"Sure, that will be two hundred for the night," a woman sighed, popping her gum.

"Whoa, Athos, you okay? You're falling," my sister suddenly whispered.

"Yeah....just...dizzy," I heard Athos mumble.

"Rocco, could you help me?"

I heard shuffling before Vincent began walking again, growling lowly at whatever.

"There's vampires here, they aren't friendly either," he snarled.

"We all sleep close tonight," Julie said in a shaky voice.

I opened my eyes for a moment to see us walking through an extremely, creepy hallway. Vincent hid my face against his neck like a parent would do with their child. I wanted to snap, but I was too tired. Instead, I got comfortable and dozed off again.

"The room isn't any better," Seraphina huffed.

"Three beds...well, that works," I heard Rocco mumble.

Vincent carefully laid me down on a bed before crawling beside me. I opened my eyes once again, smiling when I saw Athos pull Seraphina against him as they laid down. He was being protective of her now, his eyes scanning the room before he allowed himself to close his eyes.

Vincent wasn't any different, he too, held me against his chest. No doubt Rocco was doing the same with Julie, none of us trusting this place.

"So, dad, you stay up first? Then I do?" Vincent asked.

"I can keep guard too," Athos sounded.

"I'll stay awake first, after two hours, Vince will and then Athos after another two hours. We'll continue this until eight," Rocco planned.

"Sounds good."

"Okay."

When I woke up the following morning, Athos was wide awake witu Seraphina tucked against him. He was running his fingers through her hair as he stared up at the ceiling. When I glanced at Vincent he was looking at me with a smile, his eyes shining with love.

"Morning," I grinned.

He kissed me on the forehead, "Morning, beautiful."

"So, where are we going for breakfast?" Julie questioned.

"Damn woman, already thinking of food," Rocco groaned.

I heard Seraphina whimper before Athos pulled her even closer and whispered calming words. His eyes reflected concern, but only to her. It helped me to relax, knowing she was in good hands.

"She's about a month pregnant," I mumbled.

Athos gently lifted her shirt, showing a small bump, "I can tell."

"He won't try to take the baby? Right? I know the baby was formed by....r—rape, but...he/she is innocent," my sister asked, her voice shaking.

"No, he won't get even close," Athos assured her.

She released a breath and stared at her stomach, "I don't even know I can carry it full term....the doctor said my body will never be strong enough."

"Why not abort it?" Julie asked. "If your body can't handle it and if you want to punish h—

"No," she snapped. "You think Clyde will give a shit about this baby? He won't, he doesn't even want me. Even if he did, I would never kill an innocent child just to punish someone."

"I guess I know the reasoning behind you aborting my kid," Athos murmured.

Julie's eyes widened, "I swear, I didn't do it to punish you. There was nothing to punish you for."

"And yet you shoved it in my face and called me a monster."

"Athos....relax, you're getting yourself worked up. Your wolf will force a shift," Seraphina said softly, cupping his face.

He leaned into her touch and closed his eyes, taking deep breaths. When he opened them again, they were void of emotion. He was making himself numb again, burying those emotions once more.

Vincent sighed, "Guys, come on...can we get along? Just for the sake of our mental health?"

"I'm hungry," Seraphina suddenly spoke. "I'm eating for three now."

Athos frowned, "Three?"

"Me, my baby, and my inner bitch. Well, four, if I include my wolf."

"Great, I'm stuck with the crazy one."

"Uh, excuse me? Who decided to yank their pants down to show off their fucking delux sized dick?" She sassed.

Athos smirked, "Deluxed size?"

"Shut up."

"Way to raise his dick ego, next thing you know, he'll start wearing right pants," Rocco grumbled.

"Awe, is someone jealous that I have a bigger one?" Athos mocked, causing Rocco to narrow his eyes.

"You don't even know that," he retorted.

Julie pursed her lips, "He actually does..."

"Really? You're taking his side?"

"What? I have seen it before!"

Rocco gaped at his wife before shoving his face into a pillow, "Fuck all of you."

"Come on dad, get up, we're all starving," Vincent laughed.

I smirked, "Don't worry, we won't buy sausage so we don't bruise your ego further."

"Okay, I am definitely bigger than sausage," he barked.

"Yeah, maybe when you're hard," Athos scoffed.

"Can we please stop talking about this?"

"Fine. How about we ask who's better in bed? Julie?" Athos suggested with a his usual snicker.

Rocco flipped him off as he stormed into the bathroom, cussing us out.

"You're both pretty damn good, except for your pullout game. You both need to work on that," Julie grinned.
